I always wonder where I got my desire to help people, my philanthropic spirit, my compassion. Well, I got it from my mom. I think back not to the way she raised me but to the way she interacted with people while I was growing up. That same nature still resides in her today, and it’s her limitless generosity that is wired in me and the reason why I have become the person I am.
I think about how my mom takes vacation to babysit my cousins, or uses her day off to take my grandma to the store. My mom is a people-pleaser and has always put others before herself. This can be a double-edged sword at times, but I truly admire her for her selflessness because it is so rare to find. I truly believe that my mom’s life mantra is the golden rule: “Do unto others what you would have them do unto you.” May we all live with just an ounce of this woman’s compassion; then the world would truly be a lovely place.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom! I love you <3
